Gossip - Permission to fly. Well, sort of...
By Sniffer Posted on 20/03/2003 at 21:30
Oh dear. Someone has been exaggerating, it seems...

A Sniffer?

You may have noticed that we said "Skylinc, has got permission to fly a balloon with a wireless link, two miles up, anywhere in Britain."

We based this report on the proud announcements of one of the proud founders of Skylinc who said that the CAA had given his balloon the OK. And so it had - up to a point. What he perhaps should have revealed was that as of today, the CAA has only given it permission to fly these low-flying balloons at two test sites.

Sniffer is happy to report that our story is hereby changed to reflect the true situation: that Skylinc is hoping that the CAA will give it permission to fly, but hasn't quite got there yet.

Moral: when you tell a public audience something, make sure nobody reports what you say, instead of what you meant to say...
