Gossip - Paranoid? Well, Citrix seems to have been justified

Your favourite packet sniffer was having enormous trouble getting online from the Citrix iForum in Edinburgh, and eventually, Citrix tech staff took pity on him, and opened up a few ports.

A Sniffer?

We did, corporately, feel that they were a bit paranoid, closing off all the useful ports. Couldn't get onto IRC because they'd closed off 6667, couldn't use telnet, couldn't get Pop3 email.

And yes, there was WLAN access on the bulk of the footage of the conf and exhibition.

Let's hope that the total network outage which brought the network to its knees had nothing to do with their opening a couple of ports to a couple of URLs for NewsWireless.net - but someone managed to kill it.

Apparently "one of our partners" released a virus into the LAN, said an irritated techie. But nothing could persuade him to reveal which partner... anybody know?
